Dec 14, 2019-Mar 8, 2020
Born in Tokyo as the first son of Hitoshi Seimiya, who was a painter and printmaker, Naobumi Seimiya (1917-1991) studied oil painting at Tokyo Fine Arts School (present-day Tokyo University of the Arts). After beginning to devote his career to painting around 1953, he created woodblock prints and glass paintings as a full-fledged artist. His tranquil, poetic artworks have been highly valued and still fascinate many people.
This exhibition is the first to present to viewers in the Kansai region an overall picture of his artistic career. While Naobumi Seimiya is widely renowned as a printmaker, the exhibition also sheds new light on his glass paintings, fully sharing the charms of his artworks, which seem to penetrate the depth of viewer's hearts.
